Behavior Management

Take a Break:
This is not a traditional "Time Out".  This is a place in the classroom where children can take a moment to decompress, take a breather, or think about making different choices.  The students often go there on their own, but sometimes are asked to go there by the teacher.  The student will only stay there for 5 minutes and use a sand timer to make sure they don't stay too long.

Bucket Fillers:
Our behavior management plan will focus on a story we’ve read called Have You Filled a Bucket Today?  This book emphasizes that everyone carries an invisible bucket and we fill up or dip into each other’s buckets depending on what we say and do
Our goal is to be a “bucket filler,” not a “bucket dipper.”  Every time we help fill a bucket, our bucket gets filled too. Bucket fillers are those who help without being asked, give hugs, compliments, and generally spread their love and good feelings to others. If you dip into another persons bucket then you dip into your bucket as well.  Bucket dippers would be those who rob us of happy feelings by refusing to help with a task or by saying or doing unpleasant things.

Every day your child will be encouraged to fill a bucket.  If they are a bucket filler they will receive a fuzzy pom pom to fill their table bucket. On Friday, the winning table will receive a prize!

Please remember to ask your child “Did you fill a bucket at school today?” This will help your child see that you are caring for their positive choices as well.
