Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am super excited to be teaching first grade! I believe that first grade is a very important year that builds the foundation for reading, writing, and math. This year we will work together to give your child the support he/she needs to do and be their best! 

This is my 9th year of teaching at Columbia Explorers Academy. I have a true passion for teaching and enjoy my profession. Teaching was what I wanted to do since I was a little girl. In my commitment to my profession, I became a National Board Certification Teacher in 2011.  In addition, I hold a Masters in Reading.

I think of my classroom as not just a classroom, but also a community that includes students, families, teachers, and administrators. I work hard to promote parent involvement in my students’ education. I have created this classroom blog that is used daily within classroom instruction and communicating with parents.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Homework:

Spelling: finish 3 times each  (see the inside of your child's spiral notebook)

Reading: Read every night and practice sight words (seed inside your child's composition notebook, black and white)

* Gym day is the only day that students can come to school in their gym shirt and sweatpants.
