Reminder, if you plan to send treats...

2) Store bought items only
3) Individually wrapped items (NO big bag of chips)
Thanks in advance!

Dear Parents,
We are about to read the book Crysanthemum by Kevin Henkes in class. In this story, a little mouse is given a very long name that her parents think is perfect for her. However, when she goes to school her classmates hurt her feelings and tease her that her name is way too long. This book will lead us into learning about how teasing hurts others and ways we can become better classmates to each other.
We
will also participate in some reading work with this book and fun activities
with our own names! To prepare for the activities that follow this book, please
help your child with some research regarding their name. Please complete the
“Research Sheet” attached and return it to school no latter then Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
Also Santa Letters are due Wednesday as well!
Thanks a bunch!
Ms. Juarez

Hi! Today was a busy day of assessment. We also had some time to get creative with making a cute Where the Wild Things Are activity.
This weekend I am sending home 2 very important things. 1) Test folders: please sign all tests and folders and then return tests and folder on Monday. I need tests back to place in your child's portfolio.
2) Santa Letters: We want every child to receive a FREE Christmas gift, so please complete the Santa Letters!
Please help your child pick 3 gifts around $25 each that they would like to ask Santa for. Your child should pick 1 thing they want and 2 things they need. In addition, please complete the size chart (even if your child is not asking for clothing) as it is a requirement for Santa Letters.
Then with your child please write the Santa Letter on the attached letter template. All letters need to be readable, not perfect but readable. You know your child best, if you know they are not able to produce letters/sounds just yet then feel free to have them tell you their letter and you write. Letters must be in English. In the blank space, have your child draw and decorate a picture with a Winter theme! Letters are due October 22, 2014.
Lastly don't forget to complete book report on the weekend book your child brought home today!
Have a great weekend!
~Ms. Juarez

We want to make sure that the students get the most days to learn their words.
I am also sending home progress reports! These are your child's grades as off Monday 10/06/14, which means the tests you received today are not calculated and reflected on the progress reports.

Hi!
Today we read Mathew and Tilly. We are working on the skill "That when readers read we are noticing details and thinking about what we bet is going to happen next." In math we are working on problem solving. This is a very challenging skill since it requires for students to be able to read and then think about the math computation they need to so to finally solve the problem. Word problems will be something we will be working on all year long.
Today the students with perfect attendance for the month of September got a school shirt!!!!!! Perfect attendance = no tardies, no early dismissals, and no absences.
Please note attendance is so important. Unless your child is sick please make sure they come to school and are on time. Per school rules, students with 3 or more tardies will have consequences such as not attending the Halloween Assembly at the end of month.
Thanks!
Ms. Juarez
