Monday 11/17/14

Hi! Thank you for your support in the Animal Habitat projects!!!! They turned out great and the students were knowledgeable on their animal and were able to give great class presentations!

This week, we started a new unit in writing workshop. For the next 5 weeks, we will be reading and writing informative pieces "How-to-Books."  Students will be working on the Common Core Standard;  CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.1.7Participate in shared research and writing projects (e.g., explore a number of "how-to" books on a given topic and use them to write a sequence of instructions).

Weekly Words:
Orange: beginning b, m, r, and s words
bowl, beetle, band, boat, map, mitt, mop, mad, rag, rake, road, rock, sack, sun, seal, sand

Yellow: ip, ig, ill
zip, Jill, lip, pig, rip, mill,, wig, sill, dig

Green: sc, sn, sw
scale, school. scooter, scarf, scout, snake, snow, snowman, snail, snap, sweater, swan, swing, swim, switch

Blue: short and long o
clock, job, rode, joke, come, spot, broke, pot, hope, hot, home, hole, chop, rope, those, hose, rock, some, stove

Homework:
Spelling: 3 times each

Reading: Practice sight words and read every night, record reading on Reading Log

Phonics: page 91

Math: workbook page on doubles plus +1 or doubles -1 (see pictures to help) Students can decide if they want to use the bigger double and minus 1, or use the smaller double and add 1 to help them find the sum.
